We are pleased to announce the newest member of the Fujisan Marketing team, Daniel Haugen. We sat down with Daniel to learn more about his background in digital marketing as well as his hobbies outside of the workplace.
Tell us about your Search Marketing background prior to joining Fujisan Marketing.
I’m sure other digital marketers can relate when I say I’ve worn a lot of hats. My experience with search marketing began as a copywriter at evo.com. Working as part of their marketing team, I gained a lot of valuable experience from industry-leaders around SEO-writing and learned the basics of how search engines operate. Fast forward some years navigating the agency world, I’ve added blog/content marketing, SEO, paid social and search and display advertising to my digital marketing toolbelt. More recently, I’ve taken interest in coding!
Why do you love digital marketing?
I love digital marketing because I’ve witnessed brands gain recognition and awareness faster than was ever possible before digital marketing. It’s not solely due to digital marketing, it’s another tool to be leveraged – but a powerful one at that. I’m also fascinated by the digital marketing building blocks (computers, coding, how the internet works) and how they all work together as a system.
How do you feel about being a young professional in our industry?
I might be young, but the digital marketing industry is younger. It’s easy to forget we’re still in the early stages because technology moves quick. The industry will evolve to become more mature, efficient and accurate which I’m hopeful for. Not as hopeful for future generation’s addiction to phones / social media apps.
What are some hobbies that you really enjoy?
I’ve been skating for the last 10 or so years but my latest interest has been vert skating. Fortunately, Seattle is home to a 13 and a half foot halfpipe (that’s all I’m going to say about that). You won’t see me blasting airs but even a drop-in from that height feeds the adrenaline craving.
Where is your next big vacation?
I’m torn between heading back to explore more of Europe or visiting Japan!
